You are likely to know that CFSs (Compact Flourescent Lamps) while using much less energy per lumen than incandescent bulbs do, have a wee problem: mercury. Broken or tossed in land-fill they are a hazard to human and microbe. LED (light emitting diodes) have been said to be the light to wait for. As recently as a few years ago, however, all you could get were small pin-point lights. Things look like they’re changing now, with bulbs you can screw into your standard holder.
