I was part of a large group listening to George Lakoff the other night at the Cruising Club in Sausalito. Among other things he talked about in his extended presentation was the “cut and run” frame the Republicans had set up and which the Democrats seem incapable of recognizing, much less extricating themselves from.
Lakoff’s solution was to change the frame from “fighting a war” to “occupation.” We won the war, he says. The army confronted an army and took territory. End of war. Since then it’s been an occupation — and it needs to be ended. Keep hammering the Republicans about forcing our fine armed forces into being an army of occupation.
TRex, a well known blogger, contributes to the FireDogLake site with his own answer to the the cut and run frame. Never answer! Attack, attack attack!
